During May, Arizona's unemployment rate dropped from 9.3 percent to 9.1 percent, marking the fourth consecutive monthly decline. The state's rate is right on par with the national unemployment rate, which also came in at 9.1 percent.
Arizona employed a total of 2,400,700 people during May, which is up from 2,390,600 workers during April and a .1 percent increase from last year, according to the
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Although the sector actually lost jobs over the month, the education and health services industry created the most
positions over the year, growing by 4.8 percent to 359,200 workers.

- Other services - -1,500 jobs/-4 percent
- Government - +600 jobs/-4.1 percent
