Jobs in Ft Lauderdale Showcased at Upcoming Expo

If you're looking for jobs in Ft Lauderdale (Click here) an upcoming job fair may be of help.

Broward County Community Action Agency, Broward College and WorkForce One are planning to host a free Career and Resources Job Fair Expo from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. September 2nd at the Broward College North Campus Omni Auditorium in Coconut Creek.

"Our first Career and Resources Job Fair was a complete success," Melvin Parrish, with Broward County Community Action Agency, said in reference to a job fair hosted in February. "More than 1,000 attended and 16 people were successfully placed in jobs that day."

Job seekers who attend the expo will be able to meet with employers from across South Florida representing companies in such industries as education, healthcare, aerospace and aviation, government, leisure and hospitality, business, technological services, and telecommunications.

Attendees will have access to many social services agencies, including: Broward County Family Success Administration Division, Broward County Health Department, and Children Services Council of Broward County.

Attendees also will be able to participate in various workshops designed to provide job seekers with the tools and information they need to find a career. Workshop topics will include resume critiquing, interviewing techniques, and tips on networking.

As part of the Community Action Agency's outreach efforts, job seekers can further learn about financial assistance programs available to them through the Community Service Block Grant and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

"The Career and Resources Job Fair Expo has proven to be a successful collaborative community effort to bring opportunities and useful information to those seeking employment and social services," Broward County Mayor Ken Keechl said. "This event also introduces people to the variety of County services available to assist individuals and families in need. It's important that we continue to work together to provide solutions to the economic challenges that we face today."

Anyone planning to attend the upcoming expo is asked to dress professionally and bring several copies of their resume. Check out JResume if you need help creating an online resume before the event.
